4 Tips for Buying in a Seller’s Market
Hot new listings go off the market just as quickly as they go on the market these days. If you are serious about buying a home in this market, there are a few things that will help get you the closing table.
Know your numbers
Get pre-approved for a mortgage (this is CRITICAL!), be prepared to make a competitive offer from the start, and know that a shortage in inventory could mean you’ll enter a bidding war. Calculate just how far you’re willing to go to buy that dream home and lean on your real estate professional as an expert guide along the way.
1. Be available.
When that house that has all of the features you are looking for hits the market, it probably has all of the features that other buyers are looking for too. So it’s important to make the time for your agent to show it to you in person or join them for a live video walk through.
2. Be flexible.
With fewer homes to choose from, your perfect “dream” home may not exist right now. What features are you willing to forego? What improvements are you willing to do to make it your dream home?
3. Be patient
This is hard, but you’ve got to be patient during your home search. It may take time to find a home you love. And once you do, be ready to move forward quickly.
The good news is, more inventory is hitting the market each week. Hang in there. We’ve got you!
