Decorating with Books

Are you a book lover?  Is your home overflowing with books?  Have you ever thought about decorating with all those books you love? This classic style adds charm and personality to any space, creating a unique and inviting atmosphere.

Here are some ideas for bringing life into your home using those lovely old books that are just sitting randomly on your shelves.

Color Coordinate your Shelves:
Turn an ordinary bookshelve into a rainbow of color when you arrange the books by hue.

Use books as risers:
Elevate other décor such as a vase of flowers, a pretty knick knack, or even a lamp by placing them on top of a stack of books.

Pages Forward:
Surely you’ve seen this somewhat controversial trend on HGTV.  Turning your books around with spines to the back gives your bookshelves a balanced and tidy look without overwhelming the room.

Re-cover them:
They say to not judge a book by its cover, but what if that cover isn’t appealing to the eye?  Re-cover it!  If you’re feeling crafty, here are a few ideas to give your books a new look.

Cover them in linen or burlap.  Here’s a quick how-to from Stone Gable Blog.
